RUSH - Neil Peart

If you were in high school in the late 70’s and 80’s, and if you were a dude on the rock fringe (I don’t know many, if any female fans), you probably had some love for Rush. These three guys from Toronto were doing their own thing their way. These were getting some radio hits but after the third album started to slow with the hits. So the bad-asses that they are, they went against what the record company wanted and delivered an album that was totally un-radio-friendly. They created what they wanted which was 2112. The first song was 20 minutes long. Despite the lack of radio play, this became their best-selling album to date, reaching #5. This bold move of talent flex secured rock-god status in many fans.

I got to see Rush a couple of times with Neil Peart and his rotating drum kit back in the 80’s. This was the first concert that I saw where they used lasers heavily in their light show and it was pretty mind-blowing at the time. I also remember a guy in front of me huffing on a bong and then passing out for the whole show. Another good ol rock show in Detroit!

This is done in acrylic, pencil, ink and finished in resin.
