Motley Crue - 1987
If you were in high school in the late 80’s, like I was, there was this thing going on that was kinda fringe at the time but definitely had it’s following. Hair metal. Emerging out of the Sunset Strip in L.A., this scene was on fire with new bands seeming to emerge daily to try to get in on the trend. Some made it but most didn’t. Let’s just say Motley Crue led the way. How they are alive today boggles my mind. Well, I guess, technically Nikki Sixx did die but they brought him back to life. All of them had their problems with drugs and fame which was well documented in the book “Dirt” and the Netflix movie. I highly recommend them both. They had some hits that still hold well to this day and I really connected with them and their Girls, Girls, Girls album.
I saw them live a couple of times too and they put on a great show, even though Vince and his drinking were obviously taking their toll. I still had a great time though!
This is done in acrylic, pencil, ink and finished in resin.
